State fair of Texas being evacuated after shooting.

During a Saturday night incident at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting, as confirmed by the police. A suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement, and a firearm potentially linked to the assault was also seized, according to Senior Corporal Melinda Gutierrez of the Dallas Police Department.

Details regarding the specific condition of the injured individuals were not provided.

Following the incident, authorities and event organizers initiated an evacuation of Dallas’ Fair Park, located southeast of downtown.

The incident occurred during a bustling weekend night, often attracting over 100,000 fair attendees. The gunfire broke out around 7:45 p.m. at the fair’s food court, commonly referred to as the Tower Building due to its prominent Art Deco design.

Last year, The fair drew a record crowd more than 2.5 million for its entire run.   Saturdays and Sundays frequently exceeded the 100,000 attendee mark, as reported by state fair data. The fair had been planned to continue through the following weekend.

Organizers asked those outside the fairgrounds to avoid the area.

City Council member Adam Bazaldua said on X (Twitter) that the attack was “sparked from a conflict between two people who knew each other.”
