Nicki Minaj reportedly arrested for drug possession
Nicki Minaj was arrested in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport while on her World Tour, according to reports.
Nicki Minaj appeared to be detained after she posted a video, lasting over three minutes, discussing her arrest with an Amsterdam police officer. In the video, one official said that they wanted to take the rapper into custody for “carrying drugs.”
“I’m not going in there. I need a lawyer present,” Nicki Minaj replied.
Nicki Minaj was traveling to Manchester, England, from Amsterdam for a concert on her “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” when she was arrested. Minaj was scheduled to perform at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester on Saturday night but it was postponed, Live Nation UK said in an update.
However, she didn’t make it to Manchester in time for her concert on Saturday, which was postponed as about 20,000 fans were in the arena waiting for her to take the stage.
“We have just released a 41-year-old American woman whom we arrested at Schiphol Airport this afternoon on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. After consultation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was fined and can continue on her way,” police said in a statement.
Minaj was fined and later released, Dutch police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
