Former Celtics player Rajon Rondo reportedly arrested on gun-drug charges

Former Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was reportedly arrested over the weekend on gun and drug charges.

ondo, who played nine of his 16 NBA seasons in Boston, was arrested Sunday afternoon after being pulled over in Jackson County, Indiana, according to a report by WDRB-TV on Monday night. Rondo, 37, was pulled over for a traffic violation in Jackson County and a search of his vehicle ensued when a trooper smelled marijuana, according to the news outlet. That search allegedly led to the discovery of a “personal use” quantity of marijuana, as well as a firearm.

The two-time NBA champion has had several run-ins with the law, including a 2022 incident when a Louisville woman asked for an emergency protective order against Rondo. That order was dismissed a year later after Rondo underwent anger management class, counseling, and a mental health evaluation. The same women filed another emergency protective order against Rondo last March.

Rondo played with the Celtics from 2006 to 2014.
